Introduced in 1967 the MGC had a 3 LTR straight-6 engine producing 145 BHP at 5250rpm and fed its power through an overdrive gearbox which was capable of propelling it to 120mph and 0-60 in just under 10 seconds. The MGB body shell needed considerable revision particularly around the engine bay and to the floor pan, externally the only differences were the distinctive bonnet bulge and tear drop to accommodate the relocated radiator and carburettor clearance. It had better brakes than the MGB, with 15-inch painted wheels, a lower geared steering rack, and special torsion bar suspension with telescopic dampers.
